Do nothing from selfish ambition or
conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. Let each of you look not to your own
interests, but to the interests of others.

are badly needed and that there are accommodations with kitchen facilities
available for 100 workers per week.
Rhonda Carlson, the coordinator in Indiana, said that, while all kinds of
repairs are needed, they still have 150 houses that need to be mucked and
gutted from the September 2008 flooding. Families, many with little
children, are still occupying these houses.

Coordinator, Lakeshore Area Regional Recovery of Indiana, 9200 Calumet

There Are Many
Ways That You Can Serve Your Church
The obvious way ones can serve the church are through the
ministries of Assisting Minister, Visitation Minister, Prayer Minister,
Choir Member, Cook, Property Caretaker, Teacher, etc. But, God may be calling you to something
completely different. Take time to
listen closely to God and then talk to the Pastor about what type of
ministry God is calling you.
Need Help Figuring Out Your Gifts?
You can take an online assessment that will help you figure
out your own unique spiritual gifts.

Penn-York Valley Habitat
For Humanity
Penn-York Valley HFH is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for
Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing
organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need
to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold
to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Volunteers provide most
of the labor (construction, painting, finishing, landscaping, etc.), and
individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build
Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of
labor - sweat equity - into building their homes and the homes of others.
Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used
to build more houses.
